Private Events & Buyouts in Downtown Ocala
The room already looks like a party. Carved tiki, neon, paper parasols, a monster movie flickering on the wall — you don't have to decorate anything, which is most of the work gone before you start.
What you get
- The whole room. A buyout means the bar, the lighting and the sound are yours for the night.
- A custom cocktail card. Built around your theme, your colours, or an in-joke only your group will get. Printed on the same aged stock as our menus.
- Our actual bartenders. Not a temp crew — the people who make these drinks every night.
- The rum shelf. Guided tastings work beautifully as a party centrepiece. See what's on it.
- Downtown parking and a walkable block. Nobody has to organise a shuttle.
What it's good for
Birthdays that deserve better than a chain restaurant. Bachelorette parties that want photographs. Engagement parties, rehearsal dinners, work nights out where the point is that people talk to each other. It's a small, dark, warm room — which means fifteen people feel like a party rather than like fifteen people in a warehouse.
A practical note. We don't have a kitchen. Bring catering in or arrange it with one of the restaurants a minute's walk away — we'll tell you who's good. Drinks are the thing we're excellent at, so let us do those.
How to book
Email aloha@thetipsyskipperocala.com or call (352) 282-0377 with your date, a rough headcount and what you're celebrating. We'll tell you straight away whether it works and roughly what it costs — no forms with eleven fields, no waiting three days.
Booking questions
How many people fit?
We're a boutique room, not a banquet hall — that's the appeal. Comfortable for a group that wants to actually talk to each other. Tell us your headcount and we'll tell you honestly whether it works.
Can we buy out the whole bar?
Yes. A full buyout gets you the room, the bar, the neon and the movie on the wall. Earlier in the week is easiest; Friday and Saturday are harder and priced accordingly.
Can you build a custom menu for our event?
That's the fun part. We've done a 1941-inspired card for the Marion Theatre's birthday, and we'll happily build drinks around a theme, a colour, a couple's names, or a company you'd like gently mocked.
Do you do food?
We don't have a kitchen, but you're welcome to bring catering in or arrange it with one of the downtown restaurants nearby. We'll point you at people who are good.
What kind of events do you host?
Birthdays, bachelorette and bachelor parties, engagement parties, work nights out, rehearsal dinners, wrap parties, and the occasional thing nobody has a word for. If it involves a room full of people and good drinks, it fits.
How far in advance should we book?
The more notice the better, especially for weekends — but ask anyway. Sometimes a date is open next week.
